Covering approximately 8 square miles of Rockford , Hot Zones bring affordable Broadband connectivity to much of the Rockford area. Due to the distance from the wireless tower, PC's and PDA's cannot directly communicate with the ROC-net wireless system but with a fixed antenna mounted to your building, up to 11 Meg of Broadband Connectivity can be obtained. This Broadband connectivity can be used for Internet access or for VPN (Virtual Private Network) connections to your trusted Corporate Network. Due to the many factors that can influence wireless connectivity, an evaluation site survey will be required.

Is there a charge for service?

Q: Is the network secure?
A: The ROC- net Wireless Hot Zones are as secure as any open public access network. There are measures you can take to maximize your security such as making sure you are on an SSL-encrypted web page prior to sending or receiving confidential information, or by setting up a VPN connection to a trusted network. A firewall could be added to your network for additional security. Call for details.

Q: Do I need any special equipment to access the ROC-net wireless network?
A: The equipment installed by ROC- net is all that is needed. If just a single computer is to be connected, it would connect directly to the Ethernet port of the ROC installed access point. If multiple computers are to be attached, the ROC installed access point would connect to your LAN.

Q: What connection speeds can I expect?
A: Depending on your proximity to the wireless tower, speeds will be anywhere from 1 to 11 Meg.
